How to reach Rio and Niterói
- You should fly to Rio. Coming from abroad, your destination should be GIG - Tom Jobim International Airport, a.k.a. Galeão. Santos Dumont airport (SDU) also connects Rio to major cities in Brazil.
- From the airport to Niterói, we suggest taking a cab. It should be around R$80,00 (normal cab) R$150,00 (special cab), where R$ denotes Reais, the Brazilian currency. (You can check official exchange rates here.) Be very careful to take only licensed cabs. There should be a both inside the baggage claim area.
How to reach Instituto de Computação (Computer Science Institute)
Instituto de Computação is located at the Praia Vermelha UFF campus, in São Domingos, Niterói. The bus line #47 (Downtown Niterói-Canto do Rio) has a bus stop by the entrance of the campus, in front of Nilo Peçanha Square at Passo da Pátria street.
How to reach the campus by car:
- After the toll of the Rio/Niterói bridge, follow the traffic signs "Barcas/Ingá", on your right-hand side. Keep to your right and you will reach avenue Feliciano Sodré.
- Go straight ahead to the end of this avenue and naturally turn left, following the traffic flow.
- You will pass by the ferry boat station to your right.
- Keep going ahead, on the right lane, on the way to the Contemporary Arts Museum – MAC, and Icaraí.
- You will pass by the Movie Museum (under construction) to your right, and by Cantareira square, to your left.
- Continue to your right, with the traffic flow. You will have to turn left, keeping with the flow, after you reach a fortress.
- UFF campus will be on your left-hand side.
- Find FACS venue following the map.
How to reach the campus by ferry boat and/or by bus:
- When you leave the ferry boat station downtown Niterói, walk to your right until the traffic light, on the way to the mall Plaza Shopping.
- Cross one lane and keep going right, where your can see two bus stops. Walk to the second one and get the bus 47 (do not get the 47-A or 47-B). This bus will follow the same directions described above in "how to get to the campus by car" except that after Cantareira Square it will make a left at Passo da Patria street.
- Get off the bus on the bus stop right in front of the campus. Find the main gate.
- Find FACS venue following the map.
- To go back, get the bus 47 on the other side of Passo da Pátria street. This time you can get the buses 47-A or 47-B.
- To go to the ferry boat station, get off the bus on the Plaza shopping bus stop, in front of the mall.

Visa
You may require a visa to visit Brazil. Please contact the Brazilian embassy or a Brazilian consulate in your country before making your travel arrangements.
